Vintage Banjo 5 String Gibson Mastertone copy
This banjo is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-08-30)
Price : US $430.00
This is a reproduction of a Gibson Mastertone Banjo, Made in Japan in the early 1970's , it has no S/N #s anywhere this is not uncommon from what I have read.It says Ventura on the headstock, I have learned that this banjo was made in the same factory hand made as the Alvarez Banjo I am in no way a expert in Banjos and any insight you may have for me would be greatly appreciated. I do know it has a pickup for amplifiers and the rosewood and inlays mother of pearl bowties on the five string fretboard. From what I have read on the web, this is a very nice sounding banjo, and these old Japanese banjos are getting very popular players because of the very good sound quality.
This is a heavy banjo and must be solid mahogany, it is not seen in the photos but I am also throwing in the strap with lambs wool pad like new.
This banjo is in very good condition, it has some light wear in the frets and the back is slightly dulled from use. I noticed the upper tuners have some sort of upgrade, it says (keith Bump Scruggs) I noticed they have some sort of lock screws.
All the details I have mentioned here are from various sites, they all seem to match in opinion. All sales are final
I will wait to ship this item until the Cashiers check clears the bank
