“Beehive” for Boucher Minstrel Banjo Circa 1845 “Beehive” for Boucher Minstrel Banjo Circa 1845

Bob Flesher, the first banjo builder to manufacture minstrel banjo reproductions, presents an exact reproduction of the ''Beehive'' decoration that was installed on the 1845 Boucher Minstrel Banjos. It is made of maple and is stained a medium amber brown and finished with an oil finish. It consists of a series of decreasing diameter rings turned to appear to be stacked atop each other. Easy to install on your Boucher reproduction banjo. Simply set it in place on the your peghead as shown in the peghead picture Trace around the beehive. Then remove some of the finish on the peghead in the center of the circle so the glue can get a grip on the wood. Place a small amount of wood glue in the center of the circle and press the beehive into place. Wipe away any excess glue with a damp cloth and let it dry. If you have a reproduction Boucher banjo or one of the banjo kits I used to offer, here is an opportunity to add an authentic Beehive to your banjo. The peghead is not for sale, just the brown Beehive. Go to http://flesherbanjos.com/minstrel2.html to see how it fits on a Boucher banjo.
