Up for sale is a Gibson Mastertone RB250 RB 250 produced in 1982. This banjo was manufactured in Kalamazoo, MI and bears the tag for Gibson Mastertone. It is
in excellent condition for its age. I bought it used to try and learn to
play, but could not get into it and so rather than keep it I am selling
it. It is autographed by two of the best banjo players of all times,
Earl Scruggs and Bela Fleck. Both the head and the inside of the
resonator are signed. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to
get an incredibly rare banjo. The banjo was signed when the previous
owner attended a Bela Fleck concert in Denver and by Earl Scruggs in
his bus after a show I think up in the Rockies. It includes the original Gibson case which is extremely solid. Retail if you were to buy a new one without the signatures would be $3665.00. Get it here cheaper, with more character, and two amazing signatures.
This banjo does have a few minor scratches and a hairline crack in the neck
from where a previous owner knocked it over. The crack did not go
through the neck and was professionally glued by a luthier. It does not
seem to affect the quality of the sound at all. The 7th picture shows it. In the picture there appears to be a second crack, but I was informed by the gentleman I bought it from that it is a finish crack only. The previous owner played it a lot and when signed by Bela Fleck he commented on the quality of the sound. I
wish I could keep this, but it seems a waste to not be played or displayed.
The $50 for shipping is to cover careful packaging, the weight of the banjo, and insurance. If you ha
