Up for auction is a very nice used Vintage Aida(also pronounced 'Jida' and 'Iida' ) 5-string banjo. Based on my research I believe this is a '226' model, but I could be wrong, as I am not a banjo expert. The mahogany finish on the resonator has a sweet pecan coloring with double cream/ivory binding on both the front and back edges, as well as concentric circles with ivory/black/ivory purfling. There are 24 chrome brackets, an arm rest, and bridge cover, all in excellent shape. The thin fast neck is mahogany and the fretboard is rosewood, also bound with cream/ivory binding. 22 medium-jumbo frets and unique block inlays. The pearloid-button banjo tuners are old-school and extremely retro cool. This comes with the original chip-board hard-case that is in very condition as well.
This is a nice slice of Japanese craftsmanship at its best. Built like a tank, yet priced to please!
This Aida banjo has been played very sparingly. There are a few tiny scuffs, and/or micro scratches as pictured, but nothing really serious. The neck is very straight, and the action is good. The tuners look like new, and easily keep this banjo in tune. This Aida has a nice feel to it, and the weight is fairly evenly distributed for a banjo. Aida banjo's have a reputation for high quality at a fair price, and this banjo lives up to that mantra without hesitation.
