You are bidding for a rare and beautiful 19th century mother of pearl and rosewood banjo, made by William Temlett in circa 1850. William Temlett established a workshop for making banjos at 95 Union Street in London. The banjo measures 92cms in length and features coloured wood inlay work in a floral design to the reverse of the banjo and extensive mother of pearl inlay. There are a couple of pieces of the inlay missing but overall the banjo is in quite good condition for its age. It will need restringing and its beauty could be enhanced with careful restoration. I know very little about musical intruments but will endeavour to answer questions to the best of my ability. A lovely historical instrument!
