SLINGERLAND 17-fret tenor BANJO with BACON style tone ring

This banjo is a circa 1920’s Slingerland short-scale tenor banjo.  It is unmarked.  But it has features and components common to the higher-grade Slingerland banjos. It is completely original except for a couple of authentic, vintage replacement parts (see below). I installed a new head and set it up. This little banjo sounds very good and is really fun to play!

Features:

Bacon FF-Professional style tone ring,

Tone ring sits on ball bearings in rim,

10 ¾” rim,

20 hooks, nuts and shoes (all original),

17-fret mahogany neck (20 ½” scale),

8 fancy abalone inlays,

Back strapped peg head,

Thick ebony fingerboard,

Bone nut,

Waverly friction tuners w/ grained buttons (one is a matching period replacement),

Dowel stick construction w/ original hardware,

Close-fitting resonator w/ fancy wood edge,

Vintage 4-string no-knot tailpiece.

Set-up:

NEW vellum-processed calfskin head from (www.banjoseen.com),

NEW Grover-style 5/8” bridge,

Set-up with light strings for standard jazz tuning (can be easily adapted to Irish tuning),

Condition:

All metal is original or authentic period replacements,

The neck is straight and action comfortable
