NOTE: I sold this just a few days ago and found out, as it was being sold, that although neck and dowel stick are definately Vintage Little Wonder, the pot is not. I gladly refunded the money to the buyer who turned out to be a real classy guy. I am now advertising this as a Little Wonder neck/dowel sytem that is mated to another pot. The good news is that the marriage is so seamless that you would be hard put to find a nicer tenor on the market.
This is a really neat old Vega Tenor neck Banjo that has terrific volume and good tone. From the serial number it figures to be about 1928 or 1929. It has a very, very straight 19 fret ebony fingerboard, a 'VEGA' etched perloid star logo. The fingerboard has some light finger pits and a bit of wear on the first few frets, but still plays well. It is well mated to a laminated maple rim/pot of unknown origin with 30 J-hooks - the rim/pot could be a Vega of a different sort, but I'm not sure. There is some rust on the outside of the rim, and on the bolt heads inside the rim, but looks like it can be removed with a little effort. The head is an older Elite in very good shape. It measures 33'' overall. The steel resonator is in good condition and gives it a pretty fine banjo tone. This banjo is complete with new strings and is ready to play.
