You are bidding on a 1915 Vega Fairbanks Style S Tubaphone Banjolin with the Original Wood Hard Shell Case.
Serial# 33481
What a find! In practically perfect condition, this 12 fret banjolin has stunningly beautiful details. Notice the double tortoise shell binding on the inside of the banjo’s shell, and the mirror chrome plate on the back of the headstock, hiding the tuning gears. Two attractive additions, neither of which it’s audience would ever see! The rest of this instrument is covered in a beautiful period patina, and looks like it hasn’t been touched in 60 years.
Please check out the pictures, they tell the story!
All of this Vega’s pieces and parts appear to be 100% original. (The banjo’s head has been replaced with a modern Remo coated head.)
The Hard Shell Case is original and is in remarkably good shape for it’s age! The outside of the case is covered with a wood veneer. A portion of the veneer is missing from the bottom of the case. All handles and latches are intact and work just as they should!
The fine print on the wood tension rod reads:
(Vega star) Fairbanks Banjo Made by The Vega Company Boston, Mass (Vega star)
Style S PAT: Dec. 30th, 1890, Jan 10th, 1893, July 27th, 1909.
#33481 TUBAPHONE
There is a split in the wood
