1928 Paramount Style A Tenor Banjo Serial
No. 11489 - This banjo is no case queen, but she is in spectacular condition for an instrument over 80 years old.
She's obviously been played, the good ones always are played. She has some buckle rash on the maple resonator near the neck joint, some finish wear on the maple neck between the first and seventh frets, and some finish wear on the headstock, all honest ageing and playwear. Three of the original Page tuners are in the case and have been replaced with aftermarket planetary tuners from Stewart Macdonald. The rosewood fretboard, frets, and fretboard inlays are all in great shape. The chrome is all in good shape with some minor wear on the armrest but some rust and pitting on the chrome hooks. Considering her age, she's in pretty good shape the chrome has polished up quite nicely with minimal effort.
As shown, the headstock is inlayed with WM L. LANGE PARAMOUNT STYLE A, the flange is stamped with PATENTED 1550826, the beautiful birdseye maple pot is stamped with PATENTED 1348652, and the original mousetrap style tailpiece is stamped with Paramount PAT. P'N'D'G'. The neck and pot are also stamped with matching serial number 11489 indicating a matching set made in 1928.
The banjo also comes with the period correct case as shown, I do not know if the case is original but it is old and works OK. The banjo itself looks and plays great and hardly looks
80 years old. I will try to answer any
questions, check my feedback 100% positive. Bidders from the United States, Canada, England, and Ireland are welcome to join in, although the
