Dobson Fretless Banjo 1889 Twelve Inch Rim Very
This banjo is no longer for sale (sold on 2009-03-10)
Price : US $711.00
A true no reserve auction, with the bidding starting at 1p
From the family of the original owner with original receipt dated July 26th 1889. Imported and sold by T.W. Bacon in 1889. From his London premises at 26, Endell Street, Bloomsbry, W.C. 12 inch rim, The 5th string tuner is a replacement and one of the main tuner buttons has been snapped off, but will come with the instrument. Vee shaped neck, with a pronouced peghead angle. Typical Dobson tonering. There are no serial numbers. I would like to point out that the inscription on the dowel reads ''Manufacturer T W Bacon, 26 Endell St London''. There is no mention of Dobson, although the receipt clearly states ''One New Make Dobson Model 5 String Banjo to order by allowance for old one. The skin head although very dirty is in perfect playable condition with no rips, tears or holes. The tailpiece has a very small crack and the peghead has a small chip missing. The neck has a twist, but the action is super low and plays like butter on nylon strings. No case but I will pack extremely well.
All sales are final.
Item will be shipped with Parcelforce. The price listed for shipping is for guidance only, actual price to be decided at end of auction.
