Among the last of the Boston made Vega banjos, this old tenor is in beautiful shape.  I had the frets dressed by a local luthier and when we put strings on it we were blown away with how fine it sounded.  This banjo cost $240 in 1965 (an amount equal to $1621 today).  It has a brilliant tone, due to the Wonder tone ring and multi-ply rim.  The straight neck and good action make for easy playability.


I believe the hardware is all original - geared tuners, too - and I think the case is from the factory, as well.  It fits perfectly.  On the label is the serial number and model designation ''Wonder Tenor''.  This instrument was well cared for and survives as a later exemple of a fine American-made tenor banjo.  While in verg good original condition it should be noted that there is marring to the finish on the peghead.  It could easily be refinished or left as it is.
