Tenor Harp is a transitonal instrument that came from several banjomakers of the era, with most being scaled at Tenor Banjo scale and played as a guitar.
Why they are round instead of standard guitar shapes will always be the topic of interest.
I feel that they were already jigged up for round woodwork and banjo necks and were using up materials already lying around in the banjo and guitar shops because all of them use a wide selection of fancy woods, veneer and marquetry seen on the other instruments in the line.
This one came in with alot of playing wear and I went thru it to make it good for a player instead of just being a curiousity.
It had alot of cracks and things that I sealed, leveled and polished original frets which are still VG, shot a few coats of protective clear nitrocellulose over the entire instrument and there you have it.
I have it on a 5/8'' bridge for chunking rhythm but the neck angle is good, and it can go down to a 9/16'' quite easily, and the neck relief is VG, not warped or twisted.
It is a playable 30s instrument with a nice clean and clear tone.
Its not going to overpower a brass section, or blow any doors down but I will tell you that I have taken these, pulled the top, added pickups and made them exceptional Tenor guitars for a larger session.
The starting bid will be half of what I saw the last decent one go for on Ebay so if you have been looking for one, this one is for sure ready to play NOW
