Price : US $134.50
This is a vintage 5 string Banjo. The 5th string has the tuner off the side of the finger board. MAYA is on the headstock. The instrument is in playable condition. I do not know the history of this instrument, I did find that ''Maya'' was a brand named used by Japanese Trading Company from Kobe called Rokkoman. I bought it used about 5 years ago and have not played it. The Banjo was displayed and the case was stored. So it is in need of some cleaning and new strings. But it does play well with booming sound! Very easy action! I do not know the type of wood on the back. The neck looks like mahogany. The tunr all work well with no slipping. The instrument is 37 inches from headstock to the tail. and approx 1 1/8 inch at the nut. The nut looks like bone. Over all Very Good Condition. A few small dings on the back - nothing pronounced. The hardware has some aged areas.
The case is in very good condition. It does show wear and is a bit dusty - but the hinges and the clasps are strong. The case is marked made in Japan on the hinge with a small picture of a duck engraved above the ''made in Japan'' mark.
Inside the case is an old capo. Probably from the 60's or 70's. Marked Hamilton Fret Spanner.
