Fairbanks Senator No.1, 5-string banjo, # 22793 ( matching numbers on rim and stick ), built in 1903 ( pre-fire ), rare small size, 10'' rim, 25'' scale, near mint all original condition, 1901 no-knot tailpiece with original hanger bolt and barrel nut, original patent pegs and grained ivoroid buttons, full spun german silver rim, 24 fat Regent style nuts, round hooks, fancy shoe bolts, original dowel stick adjuster ( even has it's original 1/2 round metal backing plate), original nut and fifth pip ( ebay will not let me name the material ), the celluloid fingerboard binding is intact and unbroken although board shrinkage has caused the frets to be partially visible on the treble side, the tension hoop has a  very few nicks and has not been cut down next to the fingerboard, there is virtually no plating loss to any of the metal parts, neck, dowel and inside rim finish is near mint ( there is one  tiny bit of  wear on the top back edge of the peghead and there is a small horizontal line of discoloration on the back of the peghead just below the second and third tuners probably from a hanging strap- this would probably buff out- I never bothered as it's so minor an issue ), frets are excellent with barely noticeable wear on the first few frets- actually more shine than wear, the dyed veneers have a few tight cracks ( common to Fairbanks banjos of the period ), the heelcap has no cracks.

The  engraved inlays are amazing - the stars on the peghead and fifth fret have been turned into flowers by the deft
