Here is a good banjo for the person who wants to try a semi-fretless cheap, before sinking money into a more expensive instrument. Its an Epiphone MB-100,that I made semi-fretless,installed capo spikes@ 7-10,scooped,and upgraded head(Renaisance),and tailpiece(no-knot).
It does not have the Moon bridge, anymore. It has a Grover 5/8th's that I modified to make it lighter, and give a brighter tone. You may want a new one.The downers are two filled but not hidden holes on outside of the pot, from wood screw style strap hooks, and there are two small cracks in the rosewood at the bottom of the scoop, because its scooped so deep. These are both minor cosmetic defects that don't affect the sound,or structural integrity of this Banjo.
This banjo plays great, and sounds pretty good for a low end, beginners instrument. You can do a search on the web to get the original spec's for this instrument.
