Custom
Archtop 4 String Gibson RB-250 Style 2 Tenor Banjo Vintage

NO RESERVE!

This
was one many banjos my grandfather owned before passing away recently.

He
customized, played and repaired over 3 dozen Gibson Tenor Banjos while in a
Ragtime Banjo Quintet throughout the 1970s and 80s.

While
most of his higher end banjos have been sold at estate auction, a few remain -
and this is one I’m parting with to finance further arts and music education
for my 9 year old daughter.

This banjo consists of a Gibson RB-250
pot from the 1970s (identifiable by the two-piece flange and black rim) which
has been converted from flathead to archtop by the addition of a Five-Star
brand conversion tone ring made by Stewart MacDonald.

The neck is a 1920s Gibson style 2, and
the customized resonator is inlaid with a wood and mother of pearl floral pattern.

This
was one of many of my grandfather’s projects, and most likely culminated from
the customization of parts from the other dozen or so Pre War and 1970s
Mastertone Banjos he owned at the time.

It
still plays beautifully; each note rings true and in tune, without any buzzing
or ‘fretting out’. Still projects and has a good dynamic range. Played softly,
it has a good, sweet, full tone.

The
vintage parts alone on this banjo have been valued at $1000-$1500.

Included With Case.
Good
luck bidding –
