Price : US $340.00
Up for auction is an Alvarez banjo from the late 1970's early 1980's. This is a really nice four string banjo with ivory tuning pegs, bow-tie inlays and a grover bridge. These Japanese guitars are built like a tank and are far superior to the chinese made string instruments of today. Unfortunately the Alvarez banjos made in Japan in the 70's and 80's did not have serial numbers so there is no way to tell for sure what year that this banjo was made. This was my grandfather's banjo and according to him he purchased it in the late 70's. I found a picture of him in 1983 with the banjo so it has to have been made before then. If you have any questions for me that might help determine the exact year please e-mail me and I will give you as much input as I can. Overall the instrument is in pretty good shape, the chrome around the resonator needs a good cleaning and the back of the banjo has been scratched from it being played by someone with a large belt buckle(should be visible in picture 4). The neck seems to be in fine shape, no warping or anything like that. Also of note, the banjo is pretty heavy, it weighs in right around 15 pounds. Also included is the original hard shell case, some extra strings, and a black Fort Bryan strap. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. Look at my feedback and Bid With Confidence!!
