For your bidding consideration in this auction is an incredible Banjo. This is a recent Estate Auction acquisition and it is an EPIPHONE RECORDING B BANJO from HOUSE OF STATHOPOULO. Included is the original Case and a package with strings! I was fortunate to get not only the Banjo but the story and history that goes with it. I have also done some subsequent research so will try and describe the characteristics to best of ability but please look at photos and ask questions. According to the son of the original Owner, the Banjo was definitley purchased new by the Owner, probably in either 1926 or 1927. Based on the Serial Number of ''5762'' it is not clear in my research if this was made in 1926 (Serial Number history is not easy to locate) but I think it is safe to say it was made in 1926 or 1927 at the latest. The gentleman that bought it was an aspiring musician and moved about the country doing club gigs and working with various bands along the way. The Depression, and interestingly the effects of the launch of in-home Television entertainment, kept the dream at bay. He continued to play this Banjo professionally when possible for the rest of his life but did not achieve the stardom he had hoped for. He kept and played this Banjo until his death. At that time, it was left to his son who has cherished it and his Fathers memories since. The son favors other Musical Instruments and interests so this Banjo has basically sat in the case as you see it now for about the l
